Cruise Line Bans On-Board Bonding Activity to Protect Sensitive Areas: What You Need to Know
Royal Caribbean has made the decision to ban a popular activity on its cruise ships due to environmental concerns. Passengers had been engaging in a seemingly harmless duck scavenger hunt in the "Central Park" area of the "Oasis of the Seas", one of the largest cruise ships in the world. This area features a vast expanse of greenery, but the increasing number of participants hiding rubber ducks within this space has started to threaten the health of the plants.
In response to the situation, the cruise line has placed signs in Central Park urging guests to refrain from hiding rubber ducks, declaring it a "duck free zone." While hiding ducks is still allowed in most other public spaces on the ship, they are prohibited in shops, pools, hot tubs, and anywhere that poses a potential risk of the ducks falling overboard. Guests are encouraged to choose thoughtful and unexpected locations for hiding the ducks to brighten someone else’s day when they discover them.
