Norwegian Cruise Line Adjusts Itineraries Due to Hurricane Erin

Norwegian Cruise Line is altering the itineraries of two of its ships, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Jewel, in response to Hurricane Erin’s anticipated path. Recently repositioned to New York City, Norwegian Aqua was slated to embark on a seven-night cruise to Bermuda. However, it is now rerouted north to Canada to evade the storm.

The cruise line communicated the change to guests, emphasizing that decisions regarding itineraries are made with their experience in mind. "Every decision is made thoughtfully, with your experience at the heart of it," Norwegian stated. The decision was deemed necessary to prioritize the safety of both passengers and crew.

As a result, Norwegian Aqua will forego its planned visit to Bermuda’s Royal Naval Dockyard and instead stop in Saint John, New Brunswick. Norwegian reassured guests that, contingent on conditions upon arrival, they would strive to facilitate excursions ashore and make the most of the visit.

To compensate for the shift in plans, Norwegian is offering a $100 non-refundable onboard credit per stateroom in addition to a 20% future cruise credit applicable onto travels booked through December 31, 2026.

The Norwegian Jewel, which was scheduled for an overnight stay at King’s Wharf in Bermuda, also adjusted its route, leaving the port a day early to avoid the brunt of the storm.

Other vessels, including the MSC World America and Liberty of the Seas, have similarly modified their itineraries to navigate around Hurricane Erin.
