Viking Amun: The New Nile Cruiser Delivered to Cairo Shipyard for Egypt’s Tourism Program

Massara Shipyard has successfully delivered the latest addition to Viking Cruises’ fleet, the Viking Amun, during a handover ceremony held in Cairo. This new Nile River cruise ship will enhance Viking’s itineraries, specifically the 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids tour.

Viking Amun is designed to accommodate up to 82 guests across 41 staterooms, offering the distinctive Scandinavian aesthetic that characterizes Viking’s river fleet. The ship features elements reminiscent of its sister vessels, including the Viking Osiris and Viking Aton, such as the recognizable square bow and the versatile Aquavit Terrace.

In a strategic expansion plan, Viking intends to add five more ships to its Egyptian fleet over the next two years, which will increase their total to 12 vessels by 2027. This delivery is part of Viking’s broader initiative to grow its global footprint, with plans for 27 new river ships by 2028 and an additional 10 ocean-going vessels by 2031, leading to 112 river ships and 23 ocean ships in total.

Through this expansion, Viking reinforces its dedication to providing unique travel experiences and enhancing its river cruise offerings in significant markets like Egypt.
