The Port of Gdynia Authority in Poland has finalized its tender process for ferry operators at the Public Ferry Terminal, beginning in June 2025. Stena Line has been awarded a contract that ensures the continuation of the Gdynia–Karlskrona ferry service, a significant route within the European Union’s transport network, running from 2026 to 2032.
This new agreement demonstrates Stena Line’s and the Port of Gdynia’s commitment to sustainable development, investment stability, and eco-friendly shipping in the Baltic region. Notably, Stena Line plans to enhance operations with features like 24/7 freight handling, automated drop-and-collect systems, and hybrid electrification of vessels. These upgrades aim to strengthen the Gdynia–Karlskrona route as a vital maritime corridor linking Scandinavia and Central Europe while aligning with EU climate goals.
The arrangements will foster Gdynia’s growth as a modern logistics hub and are based on long-term priorities such as innovation and reliable passenger and freight services. Stena Line has been operating the Gdynia–Karlskrona route for over 30 years, transporting more than 12 million passengers and 2.5 million freight units, and currently utilizes three vessels, including two modern E-Flexer ferries.
