Stena Line Signs Long-Term Contract to Strengthen Operations at Port Gdynia, Poland

The Port of Gdynia Authority in Poland has finalized its tender process at the Public Ferry Terminal, awarding a long-term contract to Stena Line, which will allow the company to continue its operations through 2032. This contract ensures that the Gdynia–Karlskrona ferry link, recognized as a Motorway of the Sea within the EU transport network, remains active.

Stena Line’s commitment was highlighted by their focus on sustainable development, investment stability, and responsible shipping in the Baltic region. The upcoming contract promises enhancements such as 24/7 freight handling and automated systems, as well as hybrid electrification of their vessels. These improvements aim to strengthen the Gdynia–Karlskrona route as a key maritime corridor between Scandinavia and Central Europe, supporting EU climate goals and boosting competitiveness in the Baltic Sea.

The collaboration is set to solidify Gdynia’s status as a modern logistics hub. Stena Line has a long history with the Gdynia–Karlskrona route, having served over 12 million passengers and transported 2.5 million freight units over the past three decades. Currently, the service operates with three vessels, including two advanced E-Flexer ferries, which were relocated to the Public Ferry Terminal in June 2022.
