Royal Caribbean Extends Suspension of Labadee Calls Through 2026: What You Need to Know

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has announced an extension of the suspension of calls to its private resort at Labadee, Haiti, extending the closure until at least April 2026. The cruise line cited ongoing unrest in the country as the primary reason for this decision, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safety for its guests and crew.

Labadee, known for its beautiful beaches and water sports, will remain off the itineraries of nine affected RCI vessels. These ships include the Adventure of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, and Symphony of the Seas.

To adjust for the change in itineraries, RCI is offering alternative ports for upcoming sailings. For instance, a November 2025 sailing on the Freedom of the Seas will now visit Grand Turk instead of Labadee. Other alternative destinations include Puerto Plata, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Nassau, and the cruise line’s private destination, CocoCay. In instances where no replacement ports are available, passengers may enjoy an additional day at sea.

Guests who had booked shore excursions for Labadee will have their reservations automatically canceled and can expect refunds to their original form of payment. Wherever feasible, RCI will offer equivalent excursions at the alternative ports.

Despite the challenges surrounding Labadee, RCI remains confident in the appeal of Caribbean crusises, with other destinations continuing to provide enjoyable experiences. The situation will be reassessed in April 2026, but for now, the safety of all involved remains the highest priority for the cruise line.
