Disney Cruise Line’s First Asia-Based Ship Set to Launch in March: What We Know So Far
The Disney Cruise Line’s first Asia-based ship, the Disney Adventure, has experienced a significant delay, with its inaugural voyage now scheduled for March 12, 2026, instead of December 15, 2025. This change will affect approximately twenty sailings as Disney works to complete the final touches on the ship. Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences, indicated that unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process necessitated this adjustment to ensure quality and excellence for guests.
As a result of the delays, Disney is providing flexible rebooking options for affected passengers. Those originally booked on the maiden voyage will automatically be moved to the new date at a 50% discount, while others who cannot make the new date will receive a full refund and a 50% discount on a future cruise, provided they book by March 31, 2026.
Currently, the Disney Adventure is being completed at the Meyer shipyard in Germany after recently finishing its sea trials. Disney emphasized that these setbacks are unrelated to safety concerns. The vessel will rank as the largest in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, with a capacity for around 6,700 passengers and new entertainment experiences that bring Disney characters and stories to life.
Despite the setback with the Disney Adventure, demand for its sailings remains high. CEO Bob Iger reported that bookings had quickly sold out for the ship’s first two quarters of operation, signaling strong interest as Disney ventures into new markets.
For those planning future travel, additional sailings for 2027 will be announced in March 2026, ensuring that the Disney Cruise Line continues to expand its offerings.
