Disney Postpones Launch of New Adventure Cruise Ship

Disney has announced a delay in the launch of its new cruise ship, the Disney Adventure, which was set to debut on December 15, 2025. The new maiden voyage is now scheduled for March 10, 2026. This ship represents an innovative step for Disney, having been purchased and extensively retrofitted from a partially completed vessel originally named Global Dream.

Initially ordered by Genting Hong Kong, the ship was sold to Disney for approximately €40 million after the original company went bankrupt. The Disney Adventure is expected to be the largest in Disney’s fleet, accommodating around 6,700 passengers and employing roughly 2,500 crew members. Notably, it will feature unique themed neighborhoods including a Marvel area, which will house the first Disney roller coaster at sea and other attractions inspired by popular characters and franchises like Moana and Toy Story.

In a statement, Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences, acknowledged the unexpected challenges encountered during the shipbuilding process. To maintain Disney’s high standards for guest experiences, the company decided to postpone the launch. Guests who had bookings for the initial sailings have been notified and offered flexible rebooking options, including a significant discount for those who can adjust to the new sailing date.

This isn’t the first delay experienced by Disney in recent years; the Disney Wish also faced a postponement before its eventual launch in July 2022. The decision to delay the Disney Adventure has no impact on the upcoming premier of the Disney Destiny, which is still on track for its November debut.
