Hamburg Hosts Record Attendance at Seatrade Europe 2025: A Maritime Milestone
Last week, Hamburg hosted the 12th edition of Seatrade Europe – Cruise & River Cruise Convention. Taking place from September 10 to 12, 2025, the event attracted over 3,000 industry professionals from nearly 100 countries, showcasing more than 250 exhibitors, a notable 30% increase in attendance compared to 2023.
This year’s convention featured a revamped exhibition format that included a Destination Discovery Zone for emerging cruise destinations, a Tech Zone focusing on innovative solutions like shore power, and a Newcomers Boulevard which highlighted up-and-coming brands and services.
The conference programming, themed "Future Forward," included discussions on pressing issues such as decarbonisation, guest experience, community engagement, and alternative fuel supplies, featuring over 140 speakers. A significant emphasis was placed on river cruising during a dedicated River Cruise Day, where various stakeholders discussed vessel design and sustainable technologies.
In a new initiative, special access days were offered: Travel Agent Days allowed agents to attend for free, while Destination Discovery Friday welcomed private cruise enthusiasts for the first time. The event culminated in the 19th Seatrade Cruise Awards, celebrating excellence across multiple categories.
Following the convention, the Port of Hamburg transformed into a vibrant venue for Hamburg Cruise Days from September 12 to 14, featuring illuminated displays, a ship parade, and a shoreside program with eight participatory cruise ships.
Seatrade Europe is a biennial event, with the next editions scheduled for September 15-17, 2027, and September 12-14, 2029.
