HX Expeditions Unveils Expanded Antarctica Education Program for Adventurous Learners
HX Expeditions has partnered with the University of Tasmania (UTAS) to enhance its educational offerings related to Antarctica. This initiative aims to broaden access to Antarctic educational resources by introducing two online learning tiers.
Following a successful launch in previous seasons and recognition as a finalist for the Expedition Cruise Initiative of the Year award at Seatrade Europe in Hamburg, the revised program will consist of an Introductory Course available for free to all guests booked on HX voyages to Antarctica. This course provides a flexible overview of the Antarctic region to spark travelers’ interest and prep them for their expedition.
The second tier, the Comprehensive Course, will come with a fee and UTAS accreditation, allowing participants to earn credits towards future studies. The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at UTAS oversees the course content, ensuring a blend of rigorous scientific instruction and accessible online delivery.
As of September 2025, over 2,250 travelers have already registered for this educational program, which has received positive feedback, highlighting its relevance to voyage experiences and enhanced awareness of environmental stewardship among participants.
The Introductory Course is set to launch by the end of October 2025, with the Comprehensive Course details to follow. This initiative seeks to deepen guest engagement with the polar environment, reinforce HX’s commitment to sustainable expedition cruising, and equip travelers with the knowledge to act responsibly in fragile polar regions.
