Carnival Cruise Passenger Missing at Sea: Authorities Believe She “Doesn’t Want to Be Found
It appears that the disappearance of a passenger from the Carnival Horizon cruise ship is being treated as intentional. Jessica Collins, a 47-year-old American, was reported missing after the ship stopped in Bonaire on September 17. She did not return to the ship after disembarking with all her belongings packed in a backpack.
The local government has announced that various agencies, including the Carnival Cruise Line Security and local authorities, are collaborating to locate Collins. According to Carnival Cruise, she had sent a text to a member of their Care Team indicating that she was safe but did not wish to be found or contacted.
Before her departure, Collins had left a cash gratuity for the stateroom attendant along with a thank you note. Surveillance footage confirmed she exited the ship wearing a gray backpack, a short-sleeved button-down shirt, and shorts.
While she left some personal items on the ship, Bonaire authorities have confirmed that she had her identification with her when she left. The cruise, which began on September 13, had set out from Miami for an eight-day journey. Authorities have urged anyone with information concerning Collins’s whereabouts to reach out via an anonymous tip line.
