GPH Leads the Charge: Global Ports Holding Conducts Coastal Cleanup Across Its Network

Global Ports Holding (GPH), the leading operator of cruise ports globally, participated in International Coastal Cleanup Day with an initiative called "From Every Port, For Every Coast." This campaign involved collaboration among port employees, local communities, cruise line partners, and various stakeholders to tackle marine litter and safeguard coastal environments.

Over 250 volunteers engaged in cleanup efforts, contributing more than 20 hours of work to remove over one ton of waste from shorelines, beaches, and nearby coastal areas. Participants not only cleaned up but also collected data to aid international research on marine pollution, adding a scientific aspect to the cleanup.

Stephen Xuereb, GPH’s Chief Operating Officer, emphasized the unique position of ports to lead sustainability initiatives as they bridge land and sea. He noted that the campaign brought together colleagues, local partners, and communities, demonstrating that collective responsibility is essential for protecting coastlines vital to maritime activities.
