Fincantieri Unveils Star Princess: The Latest Addition to Princess Cruises’ Sphere-Class Fleet
Fincantieri has successfully delivered the Star Princess, marking the arrival of the second vessel in Princess Cruises’ Sphere-Class series. The ship is set to embark on its inaugural voyage on October 4th, departing from Barcelona for a Mediterranean journey.
Similar to its sister ship, the Sun Princess, the Star Princess operates using liquefied natural gas, a significant step towards reducing emissions within the cruise line’s fleet. Its propulsion system features twin Azipod units for 360-degree maneuverability combined with four controllable-pitch bow thrusters, ensuring smooth handling while in port.
The Star Princess boasts 20 decks and has a gross tonnage of 177,800, accommodating up to 4,300 guests within 2,157 staterooms, many of which come with private balconies. Onboard, guests can enjoy a diverse range of facilities, including 30 dining and bar options along with enhanced entertainment offerings. Notable spaces include The Dome for relaxation and performance, The Arena as the main theatre, The Piazza with stunning ocean views, and Spellbound by Magic Castle, a speakeasy-style venue conceived in collaboration with Hollywood’s Magic Castle.
After her Mediterranean service, the Star Princess will reposition to various destinations including the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, and Alaska.
