Fincantieri Unveils Star Princess: The Second Sphere-Class Vessel for Princess Cruises
Fincantieri has officially delivered the Star Princess, the second vessel of the Sphere-Class series for Princess Cruises. This new ship is set to commence service on October 4th, with an inaugural voyage in the Mediterranean starting from Barcelona.
Following the design of its sister ship, the Sun Princess, the Star Princess is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), aligning with Princess Cruises’ initiative to lower emissions fleet-wide. The vessel is designed with twin Azipod units which allow for 360-degree maneuverability, complemented by four controllable-pitch bow thrusters for enhanced port handling.
The Star Princess boasts 20 decks, has a gross tonnage of 177,800, and can accommodate 4,300 guests in 2,157 staterooms. It offers an array of onboard amenities including 30 dining and bar options, a diverse entertainment program, and luxurious accommodations featuring Sanctuary Collection suites, mini-suites, and balcony staterooms—with over 1,500 rooms featuring private balconies.
Key public spaces on board include The Dome, a versatile area for relaxation and performances; The Arena, which serves as the main theatre; The Piazza, known for its stunning ocean views and unique architecture; and Spellbound by Magic Castle, a speakeasy-style venue created with Hollywood’s Magic Castle.
After its Mediterranean itineraries, the Star Princess will reposition to destinations in the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, and to Alaska.
