Port San Diego Kicks Off 2025-2026 Cruise Season with Holland America Line

The Port of San Diego has officially kicked off its 2025-2026 cruise season, partnering with Holland America Line (HAL) to unveil a comprehensive schedule of 107 voyages set to bring approximately 389,000 passengers to the area.

Port Commission Chair Danielle Moore highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that the cruise calls not only support local jobs but also provide visitors access to the region’s hotels, restaurants, and attractions. She emphasized the port’s dedication to collaborating with its maritime partners and welcoming both new and returning guests.

From HAL’s perspective, Vice President of Revenue Management Dan Rough pointed out that San Diego’s convenient location, pleasant climate, and access to popular destinations make it an attractive embarkation point for longer bucket-list trips and shorter getaways alike. He indicated that the sailings planned for this season are projected to inject nearly $56 million into the local economy, positively affecting the broader tourism sector.

The season welcomed its first cruise on September 19, with Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas making port. This was shortly followed by the Zaandam, which commenced a 51-day voyage across the South Pacific, and then Caribbean Princess from Princess Cruises, which arrived on September 29.

The cruise calendar this season also features several significant players including Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Viking Cruises, and Silversea Cruises. Notably, this season marks the inaugural year that Norwegian Cruise Line has established San Diego as a homeport, planning 21 calls with the Norwegian Jade.

Looking ahead, port officials are optimistic that the coming season could see up to 190 cruise calls bringing in as many as 800,000 passengers, driven by expanded services from Royal Caribbean and Disney.

San Diego currently ranks as the third-busiest cruise port in California, following Long Beach and Los Angeles, and is cherished for being the closest West Coast port serving the Mexican Riviera. Its two cruise terminals, located at B Street and Broadway Piers, afford passengers immediate access to downtown attractions upon disembarkation.
