Introducing TUI Luzia: Newbuild Ship Set to Launch Douro River Cruises in 2027

TUI River Cruises has announced the upcoming launch of its first newbuild vessel, TUI Luzia, which is set to begin operations in the summer of 2027 on Portugal’s Douro River. This new ship will accommodate 111 passengers, representing a significant step in the company’s growth, combining elegant design and modern amenities to deliver a refined cruising experience along one of Europe’s notable waterways.

The vessel will consist of four decks, featuring a spacious Sun Deck with a shallow pool and an open-air dining venue named Cinder, which offers stunning views of the river valley. Onboard dining options will include a main restaurant called Sorriso, known for its gourmet offerings, and Vinha, a fine-dining venue showcasing Portuguese culinary traditions. Amenities will also encompass the Novo lounge bar and The Retreat, a wellness space that transforms from a yoga studio during the day to a serene lounge at night. Various accommodation types will be available, ranging from Balcony and French Balcony Suites to single cabins.

TUI Luzia will operate 7-night round-trip itineraries from Porto, making stops at locations such as Entre-os-Rios, Peso de Régua, Vega de Terron—with excursions to Salamanca, Spain—and Barca d’Alva. This new initiative is part of TUI River Cruises’ expanded offerings for the 2027 summer season, which includes 35 sailings from March to October across Europe. Additional new ports in the Netherlands and Croatia are included in the itinerary, with the TUI Aria heading to Zaandam on the "Dutch Delta Discovery" route, and the TUI Maya visiting Aljmaš as part of the "East Danube Delights" itinerary.

TUI’s summer 2027 schedule represents the most extensive program the company has introduced thus far, offering a range of short and extended voyages designed for flexibility and convenience. Coordinated air travel options to Porto will also be available, ensuring easier access for international guests.
