TUI Luzia: Newbuild Ship Set to Launch Douro River Cruises in 2027

TUI River Cruises has revealed plans for its new vessel, the TUI Luzia, which is set to launch in the summer of 2027. This modern ship will cater to 111 passengers and will embark on its inaugural journey on the picturesque Douro River in Portugal. The design of TUI Luzia aims to harmonize elegance with modern comforts, promising an upscale cruising experience along one of Europe’s most renowned waterways.

The cruise ship will boast four decks, including a spacious Sun Deck featuring a shallow pool and an open-air dining venue named Cinder, providing stunning views of the surrounding river valley. Additional facilities on board will comprise the Novo lounge bar and The Retreat, a wellness area that doubles as a yoga space by day and a relaxed lounge by night. Accommodation options will range from Balcony and French Balcony Suites to single cabins, accommodating a variety of guest preferences.

The Douro itineraries will offer week-long round-trip voyages from Porto, stopping at sites such as Entre-os-Rios, Peso de Régua, and Vega de Terron—with excursions available to Salamanca, Spain—and Barca d’Alva. This hearkens the beginning of TUI River Cruises’ expanded summer season for 2027, which is set to include 35 sailings from March to October throughout Europe. New destinations in the Netherlands and Croatia are also on the horizon, with the TUI Aria scheduled to visit Zaandam on its "Dutch Delta Discovery" route and the TUI Maya set to call at Aljmaš on the "East Danube Delights" itinerary.

This extensive program is the largest TUI has undertaken to date, designed for greater flexibility and convenience for travelers. Coordinated air travel options to Porto will also be provided, making it easier for international visitors to join the journey.
