Carnival Legend’s Surprise Comeback: A Welcome Return to Acapulco!

The Carnival Legend made an unexpected stop in Acapulco, Mexico, on October 11, 2025, which marked the first return of a Carnival ship to the city in over 15 years. This surprise visit was the result of an itinerary adjustment due to inclement weather.

Following its visit to Acapulco, the Carnival Legend is set to continue on a 16-day repositioning cruise from San Francisco to Galveston. The ship’s scheduled ports of call include Puntarenas in Costa Rica, Cartagena in Colombia, and Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands, before navigating through the Panama Canal on October 16 and arriving in Galveston on October 22.

Carnival’s last presence in Acapulco was in 2010, but today’s call foreshadows more visits to come. Earlier this year, Carnival revealed that the Carnival Legend would return to Acapulco as part of a special voyage in 2027. This 16-day repositioning cruise will embark from Tampa, Florida, on April 4, 2027, and will sail toward Seattle, featuring a full transit of the Panama Canal, with stops in Cartagena, Santa Marta in Colombia, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, and once again, Acapulco.
