Royal Caribbean Ship Diverted to Canada Due to Adverse Weather Conditions
Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas has altered its course due to adverse weather conditions stemming from Tropical Storm Jerry. Originally scheduled to sail to Bermuda, the cruise ship will now make an overnight stop in Saint John, New Brunswick, following its departure from New York on October 11, 2025.
In a communication to guests, Royal Caribbean stated, "We’ve been closely monitoring the developing low-pressure coastal storm system in conjunction with the path of Tropical Storm Jerry impacting our voyage path south. These storms’ forecast tracks make it hard to provide you with a safe and comfortable journey toward Bermuda." The company emphasized that the safety of its passengers is a top priority.
The Liberty of the Seas was set to embark on a five-night cruise, which included an overnight stay at Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda. However, Royal Caribbean reassured travelers that after considering all options, they determined the best choice would be to divert to Saint John for the overnight visit.
Tropical Storm Jerry is currently affecting the Lesser Antilles and is anticipated to shift northward, approaching Bermuda by the following Sunday.
In addition, Royal Caribbean is adjusting the embarkation for another cruise, the Symphony of the Seas, due to worsening weather conditions. Guests are now asked to arrive two hours earlier than originally scheduled for their check-in at Cape Liberty for the October 12 departure. The Symphony will make stops at Port Canaveral, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and Nassau during its seven-night voyage.
