Carnival Cruise Line Confirms Sunshine Departure Scheduled for Monday

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that the Carnival Sunshine will set sail from Norfolk on Monday, October 13, after a delay caused by adverse weather conditions. Originally scheduled to embark on Sunday, October 12, the ship faced a day at sea due to strong winds and high seas, which hindered its return to the Virginia homeport. This weather also led to the closure of the water channel into Norfolk, further postponing the ship’s arrival.

In a statement, Carnival confirmed the docking of the Sunshine in Norfolk on Monday morning and advised all guests to arrive at the terminal within their assigned time frames. They emphasized the importance of passengers being onboard by the time listed on their boarding passes, as the ship would depart shortly after.

Despite the delay, the Sunshine’s voyage to Bermuda and the rest of the itinerary remains unchanged. Carnival has expressed apologies for the interruption to plans and is offering affected guests a one-day pro-rated refund on their cruise fares, which will be credited back to their original payment method. Additionally, any pre-purchased beverage and Wi-Fi packages will also receive a pro-rated refund as credits on their onboard accounts.

As a gesture of appreciation, each stateroom will receive a $100 onboard credit. Carnival thanked guests for their understanding and noted that Captain Antonio Gargiulo and the crew are eager to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
