Norwegian Viva Docks at Alexandria Port: A New Era for Egypt’s Tourism

The Port of Alexandria in Egypt recently hosted three visits from the cruise ship Norwegian Viva between September and October 2025, bringing nearly 14,000 guests to the city. During the most recent visit on October 13, the ship was welcomed by officials from various government sectors, including the Alexandria Port Authority, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Tourism, and other local authorities.

The authorities ensured a smooth and secure arrival for the ship, employing tugs, pilot boats, and security vessels for escort. They monitored the ship’s approach with radars to maintain safety standards. Upon docking, passengers experienced quick and efficient check-in procedures facilitated by the General Administration of Passenger Movement, allowing them to embark on tours of Egypt’s iconic sites before continuing their journey to Greece on October 14.

As part of its fall schedule in the Eastern Mediterranean, Norwegian Viva is set to return to Alexandria on October 21, 2025, as part of a nine-night cruise starting from Piraeus, Greece and including other port calls in Turkey and Cyprus, such as Mykonos and Istanbul. Previous visits to Alexandria in September saw the port welcoming other cruise lines, including Aroya Cruises and Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam.
