South Australia Gears Up for 56 Ship Visits and 80,000 Passengers in 2025-2026
The 2025–2026 cruise season for South Australia kicked off with the arrival of the Crown Princess at Outer Harbour (Adelaide). This year’s lineup anticipates 56 cruise ships carrying over 80,000 passengers. The Crown Princess, part of a 28-day journey around the Australian coastline, arrived from Western Australia with more than 3,000 guests onboard.
Princess Cruises estimates that this season will generate approximately A$15 million in economic impact for the region, benefiting local tourism and associated industries through guest spending and provisioning. The cruise line plans to make ten port calls in South Australia this season using four vessels: Crown Princess, Coral Princess, Grand Princess, and Discovery Princess, which will make its inaugural visit to Port Lincoln.
Notably, the season includes luxury entrants such as Silversea Cruises’ Silver Moon and Silver Dawn, which will call at Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, and Port Lincoln for the first time, with several overnight stays planned in Adelaide. Throughout the season, the state will witness eight maiden calls to both Adelaide and Kangaroo Island, along with two calls to Port Lincoln, continuing through May 2026.
Additionally, the region is seeing a resurgence in cruise ship visits to Robe in the Limestone Coast, which hasn’t received visitors since 2015, starting with the arrival of Silver Nova and Seabourn Sojourn.
Discovery Princess is highlighted as the largest ship scheduled, accommodating over 3,600 passengers and approximately 1,600 crew members, followed by Celebrity Edge with a capacity of around 3,500 passengers and 1,377 crew.
In collaboration with cruise lines and local partners, the South Australian Tourism Commission has created more than 15 new shore experiences across various regions, including the Limestone Coast, Fleurieu Peninsula, Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, and downtown Adelaide.
