South Australia Set to Welcome 56 Ship Visits and 80,000 Passengers in 2025-2026
The 2025-2026 cruise season for South Australia has kicked off with the arrival of the Crown Princess at Outer Harbour, Adelaide. This season will feature 56 cruise ships and an estimated 80,000 passengers. The Crown Princess, part of a 28-day circumnavigation of Australia’s coast, arrived from Western Australia carrying over 3,000 guests.
Princess Cruises anticipates its operations will generate around A$15 million for the state’s economy through spending by guests and crew, along with tourism activities. Throughout the season, Princess Cruises plans to make ten port calls in South Australia with four of its vessels: Crown Princess, Coral Princess, Grand Princess, and Discovery Princess. Discovery Princess, making its debut in Port Lincoln, is the largest of the fleet with a capacity for over 3,600 passengers.
This season will also welcome first-time visits from luxury liners like Silversea’s Silver Moon and Silver Dawn, which will stop at Adelaide and Kangaroo Island, as well as Port Lincoln, with some vessels staying overnight in Adelaide. There are scheduled eight maiden calls to both Adelaide and Kangaroo Island, and two for Port Lincoln, continuing through May 2026.
Robe, a location in the Limestone Coast, will see its first cruise ship visits since 2015 with the expected arrival of Silver Nova and Seabourn Sojourn. The biggest vessel in South Australia this season is Discovery Princess, followed by Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge.
To enhance the experience for visitors, the South Australian Tourism Commission has partnered with cruise lines and local operators to develop over 15 new shore-tour experiences across various regions, including the Limestone Coast, Fleurieu Peninsula, and Adelaide city.
