HAL and Pan Am: Charting a Historic 28-Day Voyage
Two iconic brands, Pan Am and HAL-Holland America Line, are coming together to commemorate Pan Am’s centennial with a unique 28-day cruise called "Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage." Set to depart from Miami on October 30, 2027, aboard the MS Zuiderdam, this cruise will retrace the historic "flying boat" Clipper routes through the Caribbean, Mexico, and Latin America, visiting 18 key destinations following the Great Circle Route first established by Pan Am.
This voyage aims to celebrate the transformative era of long-haul air travel initiated by Pan Am’s Clippers. The vice president of itinerary planning at Holland America Line highlighted how both brands share a mission of connecting people worldwide, suggesting that this collaboration serves as a tribute to travel’s golden age while offering an immersive cultural experience on board.
Ports featured on the Zuiderdam’s itinerary include Nassau, San Juan, Port of Spain, Willemstad, and Cartagena, which were part of Pan Am’s early network. The CEO of Pan Am noted that the cruise intends to replicate the elegance and comfort of the era that their flying boats provided.
In addition to honoring Pan Am, Holland America Line is taking this opportunity to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary through themed sailings and collaborations with iconic American brands. The chief marketing officer emphasized that this partnership with Pan Am is a reflection of national innovation and heritage.
