A tragic incident unfolded on Lizard Island, Australia, following a cruise. An 80-year-old woman, reported missing hours after the Coral Adventurer cruise ship left the island, was later found dead. The Australian authorities initiated a search on Saturday night after it became clear she did not return to the ship after a hiking excursion.

According to reports, the woman was part of a group hiking to the island’s highest peak when she chose to turn back, citing that she needed to stop. The rest of the group continued on, believing she was heading back to the ship. However, once they returned, they discovered she was not onboard.

Emergency services quickly responded after the ship’s crew realized the woman was missing. The cruise was part of a solo 60-day voyage for the woman with Coral Expeditions.
