MSC Cruises Kicks Off Major Refurbishment of MSC Magnifica: What to Expect!

MSC Cruises has embarked on a significant modernization project for the MSC Magnifica, the first of two Musica Class ships slated for refurbishment as part of a broader enhancement initiative across its fleet. Entered into service in 2010, the ship is currently at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard, known for its strategic location for the company’s European maintenance work.

The refurbishment will notably introduce the MSC Yacht Club to Magnifica, featuring 63 suites complete with dedicated lounges and exclusive services. Among the additional upgrades are the inclusion of two specialty dining options: Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar. The ship will also see an updated MSC Aurea Spa and Technogym® Fitness Center, featuring new workout studios, an outdoor Aurea area, and a Gentleman’s Barber service. This major work is expected to conclude in December 2025, with the Yacht Club experience to debut during the ship’s Northern Europe itineraries in the summer of 2026.

MSC Cruises has highlighted that these enhancements underscore their commitment to improving guest comfort and choices. The aim is to extend the Yacht Club and new dining concepts to a larger segment of its fleet, providing a more exclusive onboard experience across various itineraries.

Following the renovations of Magnifica, MSC Poesia is scheduled for similar upgrades at the same shipyard in February 2026. This will include the addition of 69 Yacht Club suites and an All-Stars Sports Bar, alongside upgrades to dining and wellness facilities. The enhancements for Poesia will be finished in time for her deployment in Alaska in May 2026.

Once refurbished, MSC Magnifica will resume operations from Warnemünde, Germany, starting May 16, 2026. It will offer voyages to Northern Europe, the Baltics, and Scandinavia before later transitioning to Mediterranean routes, including calls at Barcelona, Civitavecchia, and Marseille. In early 2027, it will launch on the MSC World Cruise, a 121-night journey covering 45 destinations in 25 countries, introducing the Yacht Club experience on a global cruise.

Meanwhile, MSC Poesia will operate 7-night Alaska voyages from Seattle during the summer of 2026 before shifting to Miami for Caribbean itineraries during the winter season of 2026-2027. Bookings for Yacht Club accommodations on both MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia are now available.
