Queen Mary 2 Adjusts Itinerary Amid Propulsion Challenges

Cunard Line’s RMS Queen Mary 2 has encountered a technical issue during its 12-day Norway and Northern Lights cruise. The ship, which set sail from Southampton on November 7, 2025, is dealing with a malfunction in one of its four Mermaid pod propulsion units.

Despite the issue, Cunard assures that the ship is fully capable of navigating safely. However, adjustments to the speed and maneuvering parameters have been necessary while engineers work on repairs. The initial departure from Southampton faced delays due to technical inspections, and now the northern segment of the voyage will continue with modified plans.

Notably, the scheduled stop in Hamburg on November 17 has been cancelled. Instead, the Queen Mary 2 will dock at Bremerhaven to facilitate passenger exchanges, with shuttle services arranged for embarking and disembarking guests. Cunard is also coordinating a new shore excursion program for those affected by the itinerary changes, individually contacting passengers with updated arrangements.

Meanwhile, the vessel continued sailing north towards Trondheim, maintaining plans for subsequent calls at Tromso and Alesund as part of its Norwegian journey.
