Disney’s Destiny Set to Call Port Everglades Home: A New Era for Fort Lauderdale!
On November 10th, 2025, the 340-meter long Disney Destiny was officially named at her homeport, Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, marking a significant expansion of Disney’s Wish-class fleet. The ship, measuring 39 meters abeam and with a gross tonnage of 144,000, is designed to accommodate up to 4,000 passengers. It is the seventh vessel of this class managed by the Walt Disney Company.
Disney Destiny represents the sixth Wish-class unit built for Disney by Meyer Werft of Germany. In October, the shipyard revealed that a sister vessel was under construction, with plans for delivery in the autumn of 2027. Disney Destiny herself was handed over to her owners in mid-October, following a keel-laying ceremony in March of the previous year. At the time, her sister ship, the Disney Treasure, was also being built, while the yard had recently completed the Disney Wish, which was launched in 2022.
With the naming ceremony completed, Disney Destiny is set to embark on her maiden voyage no later than November 20th. Although originally slated to begin service in 2026, construction progress has accelerated her timeline. Meyer Werft has previously constructed other vessels in the series, such as the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and the Disney Adventure, which was formerly known as Global Dream before joining Disney’s fleet.
