Royal Caribbean’s Vision OTS to Call Baltimore Home Until 2027: What You Need to Know!

Royal Caribbean’s ship Vision of the Seas will remain homeported in Baltimore, Maryland, through 2027. This new decision comes after previous plans to relocate the vessel to Florida were revised. The cruise line has scheduled summer and autumn itineraries from Baltimore, with the ship completing over 40 voyages annually since it began sailing from there in 2023.

For 2027, the current itineraries include at least 20 voyages with destinations ranging from the Bahamas and Bermuda to Canada. Additionally, the ship is slated to operate from San Juan, Puerto Rico, in late 2026 before resuming its Baltimore schedule in May and continuing through October.

Currently, Vision OTS is one of only two ships regularly based in Baltimore, the other being Carnival Pride, which is expected to remain until 2030 under its existing agreement. Ongoing negotiations between Royal Caribbean and the Maryland Port Commission aim to secure a long-term arrangement, with both parties seeking to boost cruise traffic to the region.

Last year, over 444,000 passengers set sail from Baltimore, the third-highest total in the port’s history and the largest since 2012. Though Baltimore ranks among the busiest cruise ports on the East Coast, access challenges exist due to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge’s height restrictions. As larger ships dominate the cruise industry, smaller vessels like Vision OTS may be redirected to ports like Baltimore, a trend the port aims to leverage for more consistent cruise traffic.
