Costa Serena Set to Enhance Cruise Itineraries in Asia for 2026
Costa Cruises is set to enhance its presence in Asia with an expanded itinerary for its ship, Costa Serena, in 2026, focusing heavily on Japan. Following the announcement of notable destinations for late 2025 and early 2026, the cruise line has introduced two new 11-day voyages aimed at exploring the rich coastlines of the Far East, highlighting traditional and modern attractions.
The first itinerary, commencing June 1, 2026, will connect South Korea, Japan, and China. From Incheon, travelers will head to Busan, known for its temples and fish markets, before making their way to various ports in Japan, including Sasebo, Yatsushiro, Kagoshima, and Nagasaki. The journey concludes with an overnight stay in Shanghai, where the blend of historical and contemporary architecture captivates visitors.
The second journey begins on October 7, 2026, taking travelers from Yokohama to various Japanese ports, including Kobe, Kochi, and Nagasaki, before crossing to Busan. The cruise will continue to Kanazawa and reach the northern tip at Hakodate in Hokkaido, known for its stunning night views.
Costa Cruises emphasized the 2026 itineraries were crafted to offer authenticity, charm, and comfort, with additional fly-and-cruise options to ease travel from Europe. Following a recent refit, Costa Serena boasts a modernized atmosphere, including revamped interiors, a redesigned food court, enhanced pools and lounges, and reimagined accommodations for a comfortable cruising experience.
Throughout 2026, Costa Serena will also offer alternating 14-day circuits, covering destinations in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, as well as a different route along the coasts of Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines. For those seeking extended adventures, both routes can be combined into a single 28-day journey. Notably, in October 2026, the ship will undertake a 66-day world voyage starting from Tokyo, visiting 15 countries and 26 ports before concluding in Buenos Aires.
To round off the season, Costa Serena will serve as a floating hotel during a major international sporting event in Japan, welcoming athletes and teams at the port of Nagoya.
