73-Year-Old Passenger Overboard from Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder: What Happened?
A 73-year-old man from Moonee Ponds, Victoria, was reported missing after going overboard from the MS Disney Wonder in the Tasman Sea. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 22nd, while the ship was en route to Auckland.
Following the report, the crew initiated a search operation that lasted approximately five hours, retracing the vessel’s path. They utilized thermal imaging equipment in an attempt to locate the man, but ultimately, he could not be found. The ship’s captain later informed passengers of the situation, which reportedly led to a somber atmosphere on board for the rest of the day, noticeably affecting the crew as well.
The Disney Wonder is currently heading toward New Zealand, with its arrival delayed by a day. This voyage marks one of the final itineraries for Disney Cruise Line in the Australia region for this season, as the company has announced it will not return to Australia and New Zealand for the 2026-2027 season.
