Lifeboat Incident During Routine Test on Carnival Dream: What You Need to Know
A recent incident involving the Carnival Cruise Line ship, Carnival Dream, has raised concerns following a mishap during a routine safety inspection on November 19, 2025, in Cozumel, Mexico. The ship was docked when a lifeboat, which was being lowered as part of an unmanned test, malfunctioned.
Reports indicate that a latch got caught on one of the cables responsible for lowering the lifeboat. This caused the lifeboat to hang dangerously until it eventually broke free and fell into the water. Fortunately, Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the incident.
Images captured at the scene showed the bright-orange lifeboat hanging at an angle before its fall and later adrift in the water with parts still attached to the ship’s side. At the time of the incident, Carnival Dream was wrapping up a six-night voyage that began and ended in Galveston, Texas, with the mishap occurring shortly before the ship was set to return home.
