Interpol-Wanted Taiwanese Passenger Captured on Star Navigator Ship
A 54-year-old Taiwanese man, identified as Tsai Chin Hao, was apprehended by Philippine authorities on November 22 after arriving on the Star Navigator cruise ship, which was journeying from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to northern Philippines.
Tsai, a former U.S. citizen, was the target of an Interpol Red Notice due to an active arrest warrant from U.S. authorities. Immigration officers from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) boarded the ship as it approached, and upon confirming the alert with their Interpol unit, detained Tsai. He was subsequently transferred to the Bureau’s Fugitive Search Unit at the Port of Currimao in Ilocos Norte.
The Philippine immigration officials have begun deportation proceedings according to local and international guidelines. There is a possibility that Tsai could be returned to Taiwan, unless the United States makes an official request for his extradition.
