Projected Cruise Traffic Trends at the Ports of Stockholm for 2026

The Ports of Stockholm in Sweden are gearing up for a bustling cruise season in 2026, anticipating 157 vessel calls that are expected to bring over 300,000 passengers to the region. This projected traffic reflects a year-round cruise activity trend, with the German market contributing the largest share of visitors.

Seven vessels are set to make their inaugural appearances, and a new cruise brand is emerging in the market. Notably, the Port of Nynäshamn is scheduled to host 21 calls, its highest figure in several years. Overall cruise activity in 2026 is predicted to surpass levels observed in both 2025 and 2024.

AIDA Cruises is expected to be the most frequent visitor, with 32 planned arrivals, while roughly one-third of passengers are expected to travel with operators focused on the German market. A significant addition this season will be the luxury brand Explora Journeys, part of the MSC Group, which will dock in Stockholm for the first time with its ship, Explora III, from August 28 to 29.

Representatives from the ports noted a strengthening demand for cruise operations in the Baltic Sea region, with increasing vessel numbers and high occupancy rates, resulting in substantial growth in passenger volumes.
