Future Insights: The Outlook for Cruise Traffic at the Ports of Stockholm in 2026

The Ports of Stockholm in Sweden are gearing up for an impressive cruise season in 2026, anticipating 157 scheduled vessel calls that are expected to welcome over 300,000 passengers. This positive outlook highlights a year-round increase in cruise traffic, with the German market leading the influx of visitors.

Among the notable developments, seven vessels will be making their inaugural visits to the ports. The Port of Nynäshamn specifically stands out, expecting 21 calls—the highest number recorded in years. Overall, cruise activity is projected to surpass levels seen in both 2025 and 2024.

AIDA Cruises continues to be the most frequent caller, with a remarkable 32 planned visits. Interestingly, approximately one-third of all passengers are expected to be from operators focused primarily on the German market.

A key new entry for the upcoming season is Explora Journeys, the luxury cruise brand of the MSC Group. It is set to make its debut at Stockholm with the Explora III on August 28–29.

Representatives from the Ports of Stockholm have emphasized a growing demand in the Baltic Sea region, evidenced by the rising number of vessels and high occupancy rates, which collectively contribute to a significant increase in passenger volume.
