Dart Harbour Upgrades Tender Facilities to Welcome Cruise Ships to Dartmouth

The Dart Harbour authority has recently enhanced its tendering facilities for cruise ships visiting Dartmouth, England. This upgrade includes new ISPS-certified landing facilities at the central Town Jetty, which serves as the primary berth for most cruise vessels, as well as two key excursion spots: Greenway House and Kingswear Steam Railway.

Greenway House, the former summer home of a famous crime fiction author, is accessible by a scenic ferry or tender ride. The estate, steeped in history, dates back to Sir Walter Raleigh, who once anchored his ship nearby. It remains a significant attraction for cruise passengers interested in literary heritage.

Additionally, the Kingswear Steam Railway offers direct access from the tender berth, allowing passengers to enjoy a unique excursion. The railway meanders along the scenic riverbanks, through tunnels, and over viaducts, providing a perfect complement to a boat trip or a visit to local market towns.

These improvements will enable cruise lines to offer smoother disembarkation directly to significant heritage and scenic destinations, enriching the overall experience for guests while eliminating reliance on traditional coach-based excursions.
