Projected Outlook for Cruise Traffic at the Ports of Stockholm in 2026
The Ports of Stockholm are gearing up for a robust cruise season in 2026, with expectations of 157 vessel calls projected to bring over 300,000 passengers to the region. The cruise traffic has expanded throughout the year, with the German market leading as the predominant source of visitors. The release of the 2026 call list reveals a positive trend in cruise operations at the ports.
Seven vessels are scheduled for their inaugural visits, and a new cruise brand will make its debut in the region. Notably, the Port of Nynäshamn is set to record 21 vessel calls, the highest number in several years, indicating an overall boost in activity compared to 2025 and 2024.
AIDA Cruises is confirmed as the most frequent caller, with 32 planned visits, attracting a large number of passengers primarily from the German market.
A key highlight for the upcoming season is the entry of MSC Group’s luxury brand, Explora Journeys, which will visit Stockholm for the first time with its ship, Explora III, on August 28-29.
Representatives from the Ports of Stockholm have noted that demand in the Baltic Sea region is increasing, with a continual rise in vessel numbers and high occupancy rates, resulting in a significant boost in passenger traffic.
