Community Unites for Revival Following Adirondack Ship Fire on Lake George
Lake George’s Adirondac cruise ship recently suffered significant damage from a fire that ignited on its top deck. The incident prompted a swift response from seven fire companies in North Country, whose efforts managed to save the vessel from total destruction.
Mayor Ray Perry expressed optimism about the ship’s future, mentioning that the owner, Will, maintains a positive outlook amid the challenges. “He’s thankful nobody was hurt and has a chance to build back a bigger, better and nicer ship than was there,” Perry said. He sees the event as a potential opportunity for renewal rather than a setback.
The local Chamber of Commerce also shared the sentiment, highlighting the Adirondac cruise ship as a vital asset to the community. President Gina Mintzer noted the ship’s role in enhancing the local holiday experience with various upcoming events, including fireworks cruises and a New Year’s Day celebration.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the community remains hopeful for the ship’s restoration and for it to set sail again in the future.
