Disney Cruise Line Welcomes Its Largest Ship Yet: The Arrival of Disney Adventure

DCL-Disney Cruise Line has officially taken delivery of its largest ship to date, the Disney Adventure. The handover took place at Meyer Werft’s Wismar shipyard in Germany during a traditional delivery ceremony, marking the ship’s transition from construction to operational status. With this addition, Disney’s fleet now consists of eight cruise ships.

Unlike the rest of Disney’s fleet, which primarily travels in Caribbean and European waters, the Disney Adventure is set to operate in Asian waters. The ship will be homeported in Singapore and is expected to commence its maiden voyage in March 2026.

Disney announced via social media that the Disney Adventure is nearing its Singapore deployment, with its first sailing scheduled for March 2026, welcoming guests aboard. The ship will remain in Singapore for at least five years, operating itineraries lasting three to four nights—an inaugural long-term presence for Disney Cruise Line in Southeast Asia.

Weighing in at approximately 208,000 gross tons, the Disney Adventure surpasses all previous ships in the Disney fleet. For context, the Wish-class vessels are about 144,000 gross tons and can carry just under 4,000 passengers, while Disney Adventure will accommodate around 6,000 guests, making it about 45% larger than the next-largest vessel in the fleet.

The construction of Disney Adventure has an interesting backstory: it was initially started for another cruise operator under the name Global Dream, but the project was halted when the original owner faced bankruptcy. Disney Cruise Line later acquired the unfinished hull, adapting it to their specifications.

With the delivery complete, Disney will now focus on the final outfitting phase of the ship, which includes finishing the interior theming, performing extensive system tests, and training the thousands of crew members in preparation for the ship’s launch.
