Yeosu: Unlocking Its Potential as a Key Hub in the Korean Cruise Market
In 2025, the Port of Yeosu is set to welcome seven cruise ship visits, expected to bring around 10,000 passengers, as revealed by the Tourism Division of Yeosu City. Strategically located in the southern tip of South Korea, Yeosu is one of the country’s primary cruise ports, situated amidst 365 islands and between key locations such as Busan and Jeju.
Despite its current stage of development in the cruise industry, Yeosu is seen as having the potential to emerge as a significant cruise tourism hub in Korea. The city anticipates an increase to 15 cruise ship calls in 2026.
To prepare for the growing number of cruise passengers, Yeosu is expanding shuttle bus services connecting popular tourist attractions and improving integration with local tour products. Additionally, new cultural experiences for cruise visitors will be introduced, including cooking classes that showcase regional cuisine. Enhancements to the city’s multilingual signage and information systems are also on the horizon to better serve international guests.
