Princess Cruises Celebrates New Year with Alaska-Themed Float at the Rose Parade
Princess Cruises kicked off 2026 with a vibrant display at the iconic Rose Parade, showcasing their “Together in the Magic of Alaska” float. This floral masterpiece was designed to represent the Star Princess, highlighting the ship’s debut Alaska season in 2026.
The float, crafted with detail, depicted the Star Princess sailing through Alaska’s stunning landscapes. It traveled down a 5½-mile route adorned with over 300,000 flowers, including silverleaf protea and blue statice. Inspired by Alaska’s natural beauty, the float featured scenes of local wildlife, such as whales emerging from icy waters, playful sea otters, soaring eagles, a bear with salmon, and a proud moose.
Created by Artistic Entertainment Services, the float measured approximately 55 feet long and 21 feet high, and included animated elements that brought the Alaskan wilderness to life. Marie Lee, Princess Cruises’ Chief Marketing Officer, expressed the significance of the event, stating it honored the crew and local Alaskans who enrich the experience for guests.
In line with the parade’s theme, "The Magic in Teamwork," four Princess team members rode on the float, representing the 25,000 crew members dedicated to creating unforgettable vacation experiences. The parade also featured dancers performing a reimagined version of “The Love Boat” theme song, paying tribute to Princess Cruises’ legacy in popularizing cruise vacations.
