76-Year-Old Female Passenger Medivaced from Viking Sky Off Mexico’s Pacific Coast
A 76-year-old American woman was evacuated from the cruise ship Viking Sky after suffering a serious leg injury on January 1, 2026, off the coast of Michoacán, Mexico. Reports indicate she fractured her left femur due to a fall on board.
The request for medical assistance was made by the Viking Sky, prompting a swift response from the Mexican Navy. The operation was coordinated through the Sixteenth Naval Zone and involved a naval unit from ENSAR Lázaro Cárdenas, which dispatched trained rescue personnel and medical staff.
Upon reaching the agreement point, medical teams boarded the ship to assess the woman and prepare her for transport using a stretcher. Following the evaluation, she was successfully brought ashore and transferred to a Civil Protection ambulance in stable condition, before being taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
