Cruise Ship Worker Arrested in Germany for Involvement in Robbery
A cruise ship crew member was arrested during a routine border exit check at the Columbus Cruise Terminal in Bremerhaven, Germany, on January 4, 2026. The 26-year-old man was about to board a cruise ship and was identified through an identity check that revealed he was wanted for multiple offenses.
The German federal police found that he had two outstanding arrest warrants issued by the District Court of Augsburg and the District Court of Nördlingen—one for robbery-related theft and another for violating probation due to a prior assault conviction. The specifics of these cases, including when the alleged crimes occurred, have not been disclosed.
After his arrest, the man was handed over to the state police, where he was set to appear before a judge the following day.
This incident is not isolated; German authorities have previously apprehended crew members with felony warrants at the port. In September 2025, two crew members from the Disney Adventure were arrested for drunk driving and fraud during a similar check.
Although the police did not disclose which cruise ship the arrested man intended to work on, it was noted that he was scheduled to sail to the Bahamas. A significant vessel, the Disney Adventure, departed from Bremerhaven the same day, marking its maiden voyage after being delivered to Disney Cruise Line on December 16, 2025. The ship is expected to have a repositioning itinerary that leads it to its new homeport in Singapore.
More information on the vessel’s journey indicates it will stop in various locations including the Bahamas and Cape Canaveral, with its final homeport being Singapore, starting operations on March 10, 2026.
