Astro Ocean Cruise’s Piano Land Returns to Hong Kong After Successful Season in Malaysia
The cruise ship Piano Land recently returned to Hong Kong after completing its season in Malaysia, bringing approximately 1,700 passengers with it. This marks the largest group of international passengers handled by Astro Ocean Cruise thus far.
The ship’s latest journey included stops in Malaysia, Singapore, and other Southeast Asian markets, showcasing a significant achievement for both the cruise line and Hong Kong’s cruise industry. Notably, Piano Land is the first Chinese-branded cruise vessel to bring in international guests on this scale, signaling renewed optimism in cruise tourism’s potential growth within Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
In 2026, Piano Land will operate a dedicated homeport season in Hong Kong, featuring a range of itineraries that last between four to twelve nights across various Southeast Asian destinations. These include Brunei, Sihanoukville in Cambodia, Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, as well as ports in the Philippines like Manila and Subic, alongside several Vietnamese ports which include Danang, Halong Bay, Nha Trang, and Phu My.
Astro Ocean Cruise is fully owned by China Cruises International and is based in Hong Kong. The flagship vessel, Piano Land, boasts a gross tonnage of approximately 70,000 and is designed with 880 cabins, accommodating up to 2,014 passengers. It was built by Meyer Werft in Germany and began homeporting operations in Hong Kong in April 2025 before shifting its homeport services to Malaysia in November the same year, thus becoming the first Chinese-branded cruise line to offer international homeport operations.
