MSC Poesia to End Passenger Service Early in Preparation for Refitting
MSC Poesia is set to conclude its passenger operations earlier than initially scheduled. The current voyage will end on February 13, 2026, in Southampton instead of Valletta on February 23 as previously planned.
While MSC has not provided detailed reasons for this change, it appears to precede the ship’s upcoming drydock for maintenance at the Palumbo Shipyard in Malta. Passengers who were supposed to embark on journeys between February 8 and 13 at various ports, including Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, and Southampton, have been informed that their sailings have been canceled.
Affected guests can cancel their reservations without incurring a penalty or choose alternative travel options. This change effectively wraps up MSC Poesia’s European deployment earlier, anticipated to be the ship’s final season in the region for the foreseeable future.
Following its repositioning, MSC Poesia is set to support MSC’s expansion plans in North America. Starting in spring, the ship will embark on a series of repositioning voyages to Seattle, thereby marking the start of MSC’s first season in Alaska. In the long term, the vessel is expected to operate Alaskan itineraries in the summer and Caribbean voyages during the winter months.
