Silver Muse Makes a Grand Return: Service Resumes After Major Refurbishment in Palermo

Silversea Cruises’ Silver Muse has officially returned to service following a significant refurbishment at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Palermo, Italy. This extensive overhaul has enhanced the ship’s passenger capacity and involved several structural and operational updates.

One of the main improvements was the installation of new berths, increasing the ship’s capacity by approximately 7%, allowing for a total of 632 passengers. This was achieved by reconfiguring accommodations on Decks 9, 10, and 11, where several larger suites were replaced with smaller staterooms. Specifically, on Deck 9, six Silver Suites were substituted for 12 new staterooms across various categories.

A noteworthy addition is the S.A.L.T. dining concept located on Deck 4, which takes the place of the previous Indochine Asian specialty venue. This new restaurant offers menus inspired by the ship’s ports of call and boasts a bar featuring beverages and wines relevant to the regions visited. As part of the refit, the main dining area, La Dolce Vita, was downsized to make room for new technical spaces.

Launched in 2017, Silver Muse serves as the lead ship in Silversea’s Muse-class, which includes Silver Moon and Silver Dawn. This marks the ship’s first major refurb since its launch and brings substantial updates to its onboard layout and amenities. Besides the accommodations and culinary changes, the drydock period also included routine maintenance and technical surveys.

Silver Muse kicked off its renewed voyages with a 7-night Western Mediterranean cruise from Civitavecchia, with stops in Valencia, Barcelona, Genoa, and Marseille. The ship will also be repositioning to offer voyages between Barcelona and Lisbon, featuring a holiday itinerary that includes a planned visit to Funchal on December 31, 2025, to enjoy the city’s New Year’s Eve fireworks. After completing its European deployments, Silver Muse is set to continue its winter itinerary in the Mediterranean.
