CCL Expands Carnival Radiance’s Long Beach Homeport: Exciting Baja Mexico Cruises for 2027-2028!
Carnival Cruise Line (CCL) has announced exciting updates for the 2027–2028 season, introducing a range of new sailings aboard the Carnival Radiance. This ship will be homeporting in Long Beach/Los Angeles, offering short itineraries focused on popular West Coast destinations, specifically Ensenada in Mexico and Avalon on Catalina Island.
From May 3, 2027, to April 28, 2028, the Carnival Radiance, previously known as Carnival Victory, will facilitate a series of cruises to Baja Mexico. The schedule includes 3-night sailings to Ensenada and 4-night itineraries that visit both Catalina Island and Ensenada. A special 4-night voyage to Ensenada is also planned for January 3, 2028, and a festive 5-night Christmas sailing will depart on December 23, 2027, with stops in Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada.
This expanded program illustrates CCL’s ongoing partnership with local ports, especially in Catalina Island and Ensenada. Recently, CCL secured a 15-year agreement with the City of Avalon, furthering a collaboration that has lasted over two decades and focusing on sustainable tourism.
In conjunction with these developments, Carnival Corporation, CCL’s parent company, is working on the Ensenada Bay Village project. This new destination is under construction in Ensenada, with an investment exceeding $26 million aimed at enhancing the port experience with diverse cultural, recreational, and leisure offerings. This project is expected to accommodate guests from multiple cruise lines and is slated to open in 2028, pending construction progress.
These new itineraries aim to provide a balanced experience centered on Baja California while maintaining the convenience of short trips from Southern California. The Carnival Radiance, which can host 3,000 passengers, features various dining options and onboard amenities that cater to the preferences of travelers seeking quick entertainment-focused cruises along the U.S. West Coast.
