Water Line Failure Causes Cabin Damage on MSC Seaview During South America Cruise
MSC Cruises has reported a technical failure in a water line that caused flooding on the MSC Seaview during a cruise itinerary in South America. This incident occurred on January 12, 2026, while the ship was on a seven-night journey that started in Santos, Brazil, on January 10.
Footage shared by Brazilian media showed water pooling in a passenger corridor and soaking carpets outside various cabins. Guests could be seen walking through the area barefoot. The problem originated from a malfunction in the water line, leading to water entering several guest staterooms and a public corridor.
MSC stated that the issue was quickly identified, isolated, and resolved by the onboard technical team. Although the exact number of affected cabins was not disclosed, the cruise line assured that there was no safety risk to passengers. Guests were kept updated throughout the incident and received assistance as needed. Compensation options included cabin upgrades, a full refund in some cases, and onboard credits up to $150.
Following the repairs, MSC Seaview continued its voyage without further incident.
