Water Line Failure Causes Cabin Damage on MSC Seaview During South America Cruise
MSC Cruises recently reported a technical incident aboard the MSC Seaview that resulted in localized flooding during a South American cruise. On January 12, while the ship was on a week-long voyage that started in Santos, Brazil, malfunctioning water lines caused water to seep into several passenger cabins and a public corridor.
Footage shared by Brazilian media outlet UOL showed standing water accumulating along a passenger corridor with soaked carpeting outside staterooms, prompting some guests to walk barefoot through the affected area.
MSC swiftly addressed the problem, isolating the malfunction and repairing it promptly. Following the incident, the cruise line ensured that all impacted cabins were thoroughly cleaned. Although they did not specify the number of cabins affected, MSC reassured passengers that the incident posed no safety risks.
Guests were kept informed throughout the event and were offered various compensation options depending on the level of disruption. This included cabin upgrades, full refunds in certain cases, and onboard credits of up to $150.
After resolving the issue, the MSC Seaview continued its voyage without further incidents. For more details, you can visit the ship’s CruiseMinus page.
