Oceania Sonata Launches with Exciting New Transatlantic Itineraries
The new Oceania Sonata, the inaugural ship of Oceania Cruises’ SONATA Class, will launch its first season with bookings opening on January 28, 2026. Set to begin operations in August 2027, the vessel will embark on 22 voyages that will take place from late summer through April 2028, emphasizing extended port stays with itineraries ranging from 7 to 16 days.
The maiden voyage is scheduled to depart from Civitavecchia-Rome on August 7, 2027, heading towards Trieste after a 14-day journey that will include stops at Catania in Sicily, Valletta in Malta, Katakolon in Greece, Bar in Montenegro, and Zadar in Croatia.
During the following European season, the Sonata will visit major cities including Barcelona, Piraeus-Athens, and Lisbon, alongside smaller ports in Greece, Slovenia, Albania, and Spain. The itinerary incorporates overnight stops in historic cities such as Istanbul, Livorno, and Bordeaux.
Following her Mediterranean voyages, Oceania Sonata will cross the Atlantic to Miami, where she will operate in subtropical regions, including the Caribbean and Latin America. Planned stops feature Bridgetown, Tortola, Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa in Mexico, and Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala. Notably, the schedule will also include a scenic transit through the Panama Canal, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific.
Sonata represents a new modified VISTA class in Oceania’s fleet, designed to blend passenger comfort with public areas and spontaneous access to coastal experiences, thereby upholding Oceania’s long history of connecting diverse destinations through thoughtfully crafted itineraries.
